53강. 가정법의 이해

「if+s+과거 …,」형태의 문장은 현재 사실을 반대로 또는 실현 불가능한 미래를, 「if+s+had+pp …,」형태의 문장은 과거 사실을 반대로 상상하거나 가정할 때 쓴다. 각각 ‘…라면, ～할 텐데.’, ‘…였다면, ～했을 텐데.’로 해석한다.

eg. If he were here, he would do it. 그가 여기 있다면 그것을 할 텐데.

     If I had known her, I would have said it. 그녀를 알았다면 그걸 말했을 텐데.

 

기초 예제

1. I could eat something if I didn't have indigestion.

2. If he had run faster, he'd have scored more goals.

 

수능 예제

3. If I were a genius, I would not mind being treated like one.

4. If the assignment were stated vaguely, you would have more room to think and be more creative.

5. Oh, if only I had stopped to think about it, I would never have reacted that way!
