Talk about when Korean workers have to work overtime.

It's funny that a typical office job is often referred to as a "nine-to-five job", because

I don't even remeber the last time I was able to go home at five! In fact, working overtime

seems to be the norm in kOrea. Personally, I don't mind staying behind at the office if I have

a lot of leftover work. However, there are times when I have to just stick around longer because my boss

hasn't called it a day! Going home before your supervisor is a big no-no in Korean society.

Occasionally, when we end up staying late at the office, our boss does treat us to dinner,

but that just means we have to stay even longer!

ABout Internet cafes in Korea.

One thing foreigners will notice about Korea is that there are an amazing number of Internet cafes

all over the country. They're practically everywhere! An Internet cafe is called a "PC bang" in Korean, which

literally means a "PC room". Of course, the vast majority of Korean households have access to a computer

and the Internet. But still, these Internet cafes thrive because people want Internet access

while they're outside. Another reason for their popularity is that many koreans are into multiplayer games.

Friends come to thse places to enjoy these games together. Others come to Internet cafes to chat with

their friends or update their blogs or mini-homepages. Some simply come to kill time while surfing the web.

At ten o'clock at night though, teenagers are asked to leave because it's against the law to have teens at

Internet cafes after that hour.

Explain about physicals Korean men get for their military service.

신검에 대해 설명하라! 안하면 주거!!!!!!!!!!!-_-;;;;

Korean men have to mandatorily serve in the military for two years. Now, before they do this,

they go through(get) a physical which determines what kind of service they will be conducting.

If one gets from level 1 to level 3 on the physical, one serves as a member of (the) active-duty

troops in the army, navy, or the air force. If one gets level 4, one is subject to civil service

or other forms of alternative service. Thsoe who get level 5 will automatically become reserves.

Meanwhile, some people get exempt from the military draftif they have serious problems with

their health. Also, if one dropped out of middle school or served in jail for longer than a year

and a half, they also get exempt. Natuarlized ctizens, orphans, and those who are clearly biracial appearance are also free from military service.

Explain about evening self-study sessions(야자,야간자율학습) at Korean high schools.

It's no secret tha Korean high school students have to study day and night to get into college.

Their classes start very early in the morning and end late in the afternoon.

But eve after classes are over, many schools require students to stick around to study more

until late at night. It's called "ya-gan ja-yool-hak-sup" in Korean and it literally means

"evening self-study." This is more common with high school seniors who have the college

entrance exam coming up soon. Of course, it's not the case with all high schools out there,

but it is certainly quite a comon thing you can witness in Korea. Because students stay

around at school until a late hour, they often end up staying in school from 12 to 14 hours a day.

It hits Korea from late June to early July. You'd better be sure to have an umbrella with you

at all times during those weeks, as Korea gets close to half its annual rainfall

during that period! Those experiencing Korea's monsoon season for the first time will

be absolutely shocked by the sheeer amount of rain that pounds the country. Not only that,

during the rainy season, people have to deal with intense humidity that makes life sticky and sweaty.

Describe about traditional Korean drinks "mak-gul'li" and "dong-dong'ju".

If you want a little taste of traditional Korean drinks, you really ought to try "막거리" or 동동주,

Both of these drinks are made from rice, flour, wheat or other grains. Essentially, 동동주 is the semi transparent

liquid you get from 막걸리. 막걸리 is opaque because you mix it up well with the resiude.

In Korea, when it rains, many people automatically think of drinking either of the two drinks with

"pa-jun"(korean pancakes). 막걸리 used to be, and still is, the drink of choice for farmers

working in the fields.

These days, many drink it in the mountains after a day of hiking.

It's the perfect drink to quench your thrist after a hard day on the hiking trails. So, the next time it rains,

grab a Korean friend and ask him or her to take you out for "막걸리" or 동동주. Just don't overdo it

- the hangover can be a killer!

Describe about the riverside parks along

the Han River.

The Han River bisects Seoul into the north and south.

All along the Han River are areas of recreation

designed for Seoulites of all ages. There are swimming pool, basketball courts, soccer fields, and even stages for performances. One of the main reasons people come to this place is to get exercise. You can enjoy a bike path that stretches along the entire riverside.

If you don't have your own bike, you can even rent one for a reasonable fee. There are also tandem bikes for couples. That's not all! While the daytime activities are plentiful, the riverside parks are great places to enjoy the evening breeze and the beautiful night view of Seoul.

That's why these places are crwoed with people even in the nighttime. If you feel a romantic dinner, you can check out one of those fancy restaurants that are floating on the river.

Even twey years ago, the word "obesity" was not frequently heard in Korea.

Koreans still appear slimmer than their Wester counterpats, but that trend is

slowly changing. Now, there are obesity clinics all over the place catering to

peple battling their overweight problems. This can be attributed to several factors.

First of all, the introduction of greasy Western food is one of the main culprits.

Next, with the higher standard of living, people follow sedentar lifestyles in their day-to-day

lives more than ever. That goes for children, too. Inedeed, childhood obesity rates are on the rise as well. The issue of obesity is not just an individual problem, though. It's an issue

that the government must tackle head-on. That's because obesity can lead to serious

and costly medical problems in the long term, such as diabetes, heart disease, and even

shortened life expectancy.
