f(x) wins #1 on M! Countdown + other performances

Mnet’s M! Countdown is back with another episode of great performances and musical treats.

There were debuts for SISTAR 19 and SpinEL, while Kim Wan Sun and Untouchable made their comebacks. Elsewhere, CNBLUE begun their follow-up promotions while Girl’s Day said goodbye.

It was a battle between 4minute, Park Bom, and f(x) for the #1 spot on M! Countdown today, and in the end, it was f(x) who grabbed the win tonight. Unfortunately, the girls weren’t performing tonight and couldn’t receive their trophy in person. Congratulations to f(x) on their win!!

Today’s MCD had an alternative chart which had last week’s performing artists hitting a hammer strength machine backstage. Guess who hammered their way to the highest score?

Gong Hyo Jin transforms into a "National Treasure Girl"

Gong Hyo Jin recently transformed into an idol star.

The actress reportedly practiced for hours to pull off a dance performance for her role in MBC’s “Best Love“, as she is playing the role of an ex-member of the idol group ‘National Treasure Girls’.

At a press conference for the drama, she stated, “I worried a lot before choosing this drama because the role required me to sing and dance well.”

A representative for the actress’ agency stated, “For her role in the drama, Gong Hyo Jin received special lessons from a professional dance trainer. She also practiced daily in midst of her busy schedule so the shooting went fairly well.”

Pictures were also uploaded on the official homepage of “Best Love”, piquing the interest of many netizens. The actress is seen wearing a white sleeveless dress which emphasizes her innocent beauty.

“Best Love” is a new Wed-Thurs drama about ex-star ‘Goo Ae Jung’, who romances Korea’s beloved top star ‘Dok Go Jin’, played by Cha Seung Won.

Actor So Ji Sub recently shot an action-filled CF for Powerade.

While reading a book like a classy gentleman in the middle of the road, So Ji Sub was challenged to a match of tennis by a Roger Federer look alike.

Grabbing his iPad like a pro, the two exchanged fierce smashes with So Ji Sub ultimately winning over him with the burst of energy he got by drinking his Powerade.

True? Not so much. But do drink Powerade because heartthrob So Ji Sub has endorsed it!!

SS501’s Heo Young Saeng releases ‘Let It Go’ MV teaser

After pushing back his debut date due to a hand injury, SS501’s Heo Young Saeng finally announced that he’ll release his mini-album on May 12th! His agency had a lot of worries over his slow recovery, but Heo Young Saeng himself decided it was best to have a comeback soon.

Heo Young Saeng’s hand is not quite at 100% yet, but he’s passionately preparing for his comeback stage. He has also released his video teaser on the 4th, as well as some stills from his solo MV.

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that 4minute’s HyunA participated in the title song “Let It Go“, and fellow SS501 member Kim Kyu Jong also worked on another song in the album.

Will.I.Am visits Korea to discuss 2NE1’s U.S. advancement

On May 2nd, Will.I.Am made a visit to the YG Entertainment building in Korea for a four hour-long meeting with Yang Hyun Suk, 2NE1, and Teddy regarding 2NE1’s American advancement.

Despite it being only a three-day stay, Will.I.Am expressed his excitement in working with 2NE1 by asking the girls to try recording a song that he’s been working on in the States.

Representatives of YG Entertainment commented, “Through Will.I.Am’s visit, we feel that we’ll be able to get closer to materializing a release date for 2NE1’s American advancement album.”

2NE1 is currently scheduled to release their official comeback title track, “Lonely“, on May 12th.

JYJ’s Yoochun rejected from MBC’s “Come to Play”?

With recent reports of the cast of MBC’s “Ripley” being rejected from the variety program, “Come to Play“, netizens have been turning their attention to the reason why.

According to information revealed by a large majority of drama representatives, the “Ripley” cast - Kim Seung Woo, Kang Hye Jung, Lee Da Hae, Park Yoochun – were in discussion for a guest appearance on “Come to Play” later this month.

Unfortunately, producers of the show reportedly made a request to “Ripley” asking if it was possible to exclude Park Yoochun from the line-up and only have the remaining three cast members guest on the show. Eventually, the “Ripley” cast decided to let the entire thing go, as if it never happened.

Because of his ongoing lawsuit with SM Entertainment, Park Yoochun and his fellow JYJ members have been battling obstacles against the public broadcast networks for some time now, making many wonder whether this is the work of backdoor pressure once again.

One anonymous broadcast representative stated, “Park Yoochun’s ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘ was highly popular, but he was not able to make guest appearances on the same network variety shows. I feel that it’s the same within MBC; there seems to be conflicts between MBC’s drama and variety division.”

SME considers adding another concert date for "SM Town Live in Paris"

On May 1st, 300+ French K-Pop fans held a flash mob event at the Pyramide de Louvres in Paris to attempt to convince SM Entertainment to add another concert date to their “SM Town Live in Paris” concert.

Korean media outlets like MBC and SBS covered the event, and it seems the efforts of the fans have paid off, as SM Entertainment has announced that they’re discussing plans of adding an extra concert date.

Representatives stated, “Not only French fans, but all K-Pop fans of Europe participated in the flash mob event. Because of the overwhelming support we’ve been receiving from our European fans, we will be checking our artists’ schedules and discuss adding another date to the concert.”

The first concert, which is currently scheduled for June 10th, sold out all 7,000 seats within 15 minutes of tickets going on sale.

AZIATIX releases debut music video, “Go”

On May 2nd, Asian American hip hop and R&B group AZIATIX released their music video for their debut single, “Go“!

Produced by Solid’s Jung Jae Yoon, AZIATIX is comprised of members Eddie Shin, Flowsik, and Nicky Lee. They’ve already released “Go” through iTunes back in March, and have followed up with an emotional music video for the track today.

The group held their debut showcase in New York on April 30th and were previously introduced in “Music Week” as “one of the groups that can succeed in the American and Europe market alongside B2ST and 4minute.”

AZIATIX will be releasing their first mini-album on May 17th.

Lim Jeong Hee reveals “Golden Lady” teaser featuring G.NA

Previously, we reported that Lim Jeong Hee would recruit a start-studded line-up including Wheesung, 4minute’s HyunA, G.NA, 8eight’s Baek Chan, San-E, and more for her comeback album, “GOLDEN LADY.”

Well, the teaser for “GOLDEN LADY” was released and both comedian Park Hi Soon and the beautiful G.NA are the featured stars in the video. 4minute’s Hyuna is said to be featured on the track and it was produced by the hit making producer Bang Shi Hyuk. Lee Seung Gi’s ideal woman is SNSD’s YoonA

On May 2nd, singer Lee Seung Gi guested on MBC’s “Come to Play” and revealed that his ideal woman was none other than SNSD’s YoonA.

As previously reported, Lee Seung Gi had revealed that he was “a really easy guy” and that he wanted female celebrities to ask for his number.

His mentor, Lee Sun Hee, responded to the statement by revealing, “I would often ask Seung Gi, ‘Don’t you think SNSD’s YoonA is pretty?’ and he’d always reply with just, ‘Yes.’”

Seung Gi carefully replied, “I like YoonA-ssi, she’s very pretty, but I also don’t think that it’s appropriate to reply to that question saying I like her so I just say ‘Yes.’ Maybe it’s because I debuted at such a young age, but I don’t have that instinctive defense mindset for questions like that.”

When pressed about his ideal woman, he shyly admitted, “I like girls that have the style of YoonA.”

X-5 is already receiving international love calls

Open World Entertainment’s new boy group, X-5, is already showing signs of becoming the next Hallyu star just a few weeks into their debut.

They’ve been receiving numerous international love calls since the release of their debut single, “Xenos.” Now that they’ve completed their round of debuts on music programs, love calls from Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore are reportedly becoming more frequent.

Representatives stated, “Prior to X-5’s debut, they’ve been receiving a lot of love calls from K-Pop fans overseas. Their video teasers have received international interest, and now that they’ve finally completed their debut performances, they’re receiving a lot of requests to perform at K-Pop events.”

They continued, “Japan has especially taken an interest in X-5. It is true that we’ve been receiving advancement opportunities from big Japanese companies.”

Although they’re considering the offers, representatives stated that they will be waiting a bit, as the boys have only just debuted.

Recently, Cube Entertainment announced through G.NA’s official fancafe that they’ve decided upon her official fanclub name. Fans submitted and voted on possible suggestions, and Cube made the announcement via an open letter.

The letter reads :

Hello.
This is CUBE Entertainment.
For a while, there was a lot of interest about the name of her fanclub.
Now we are able to reveal it for the first time.
We thank all of those who entered in the fanclub name contest and participated in voting,
and because G.NA’s fanclub name is one that everyone has chosen
