how long has it been.. since i wrote last time..

just wanted to scribble.. and see what turns up.

i started working and it's pretty different from what i expected.

thought getting out of college would get everything solved out.

not really.

well, it's a new phase.

so i'm back.

This is a shout to everyone out there, desperately hoping me to return. haha just my imagination right?

I'm really happy that some of you are still writing your diaries in the guest book(?) ^^ And please do keep it up.

Unfortunately, when I came back from Atlanta last week, I forgot to pack the power supply for my lap top which is the only way that will let me type in Korean.

My friend's sending it to me, so hopefully by this weekend, I can look at all of your... well not all of them, but will try to make corrections for as many as I can.

I would really like to thank you all for visiting and keeping up with your work.

Oh, by the way, my school started. This will be my last semester!! ^^

diary start~

i saw 'dark night' yesterday. i heard this movie hit box office for 4 weeks. so my expactation was very high. result is "that's great!" i didn't see betman series(i didn't see betman movie by tim burton), but this movie is exiting! above all, i like that betman's humanity. he is also human, and troule with love, justice, killing. but i don't like woman actor's face. i don't understand why betman love her. i think she isn't fascinating face. haha.

result is "that's great!" i didn't see betman series(i didn't see betman movie by tim burton), but this movie is exiting!

- 현재 완료를 써서 haven't seen을 씁니다.

- result는 보통 실험, 시험등에 많이 씁니다.

- betman --> Batman

--> The movie was great despite the fact that I haven't seen the previous Batman series, including the one directed by Tim Burton.

above all, i like that betman's humanity. he is also human, and troule with love, justice, killing.

- love, justice, killing는 같은 형용사가 아니기 때문에 그냥 쉼표로 연결하여 쓰실수 없습니다.

--> Above all, I liked the inner struggle of the Batman; while he is a hero, he is still a human with mixed emotions such as love and hate in the midst of his moral responsibility for justice.

- 굉장히 고민하고 고민해서 쓴 문장인데요.. 원래의 취지에 약간 벗어난듯 합니다.. 쩝..

but i don't like woman actor's face. i don't understand why betman love her. i think she isn't fascinating face. haha.

i'm bigginner of English and i had studied for about 6months in the Philippines..
but i didn't do my best that time. All i do now is just watching movies to learn what the English speakers say.
Yesterday i watched "American beauty" and recorded it in casette tape because it's hard to bring DVD player all along. Athough it's portable thing.

After living in the Philippines, i decided to take my university courses again that's what my parents want me to.
Actually i don't even figure out what i really want.. But i hope sure i'm enjoying English.
From now on, 2nd semester is 20days to go. I kind of need me time...

Enjoy your summer vacation it's real good to remind me how to write. it's been a while.

- 문장의 처음은 항상 대문자로 씁니다. I 역시 마찬가지.. myself 뒤에는 쉼표가 있어야 겠네요.

- 역시 대문자로 시작하시고, biginner ==> beginner, i 대문자구요

- 마침표는 무조건 무조건 무조건 1개 찍으세요. 닉님 저한테 이거땜에 많이 갈굼 당했습니다. ㅎㅎ ^^;;

- 이 문장은 잘 이해가 안될 수도 있습니다. 6개월을 공부했지만 아직 beginner다라는 뜻이 되거나 6개월을 공부해서 이젠 expert가 되었다. 이런 문장 구조가 와야 하는데 AND가 있어서 어색합니다.

- But으론 문장을 시작하지 않는 습관을 들여주세요.

- 밑의 문장을 보면 열심히 하지 않았다고 쓰셨기 때문에 6개월을 공부하였지만 아직 beginner란 뜻으로 해석해서 수정하고 2문장을 합친다면..

--> I'm still a beginner in English (even) after studying 6 months in the Philippines where I didn't really put the best of my efforts.

- even을 넣어주심 좀 더 강조하는 느낌이 되지요.

All i do now is just watching movies to learn what the English speakers say.

- 필리핀 얘기를 하시다가 All I do 로 갑자기 현재로 돌아오는 문장이 어색하고 혼동이 오는 면이 있네요..

- 또 제가 봤을땐 녹음의 목적이 영어 공부 인것 같긴 하지만 원어민은 "영화를 봤는데 왜 녹음을 해?" 라고 생각이 들 수 있습니다.

- Yesterday 후에는 쉼표, i 는 대문자

- record on 이라는 숙어를 씁니다.

--> Yesterday, I watched "American Beauty" and recorded it on a tape so I can listen to it and learn the dialogues while I am on the road since the DVD player I have is harder to carry despite of its intended use as a portable player.

- 이렇게 부가 설명이 들어가야.. 아 그래서 녹음을 했구나.. 라고 이해하게 됩니다.

After living in the Philippines, i decided to take my university courses again that's what my parents want me to.

- 역시 영화얘기 하다가 갑자기 필리핀으로 돌아가고.. 또 대학과 국내 얘기가 나오고 있습니다..

- that 이 나왔으면 주어 + 동사가 있는 절이 와야 하지만 to가 붙어버리면서 또 다른 동사가 필요한 상황입니다.

- 그리고 필리핀에서 살아보니.. 라고 쓰신 후에 decide 동사를 사용했기 때문에 첫번째 문장이 두번째 문장의 이유가 되어야 합니다. 그치만 2개의 cause/effect 관계가 잘 성립이 안되죠.. 그래서 after living 대신에 다른 표현을 써볼게요.

--> Upon returning to Korea after 6 months in the Phillipines, I decided to take my...

- 필리핀에서 돌아온 후에 결심했다.. 라는 뜻이 되는데요..

- 어떻게 보면 거의 차이가 없는 것 같지만 문장이 훨씬 더 부드러워진 느낌입니다.

Actually i don't even figure out what i really want.. But i hope sure i'm enjoying English.
- figure out을 현재형으로 쓰게 되면 평소 습관이란 뜻으로 쓰이게 되어 뜻이 와전 됩니다. 과거, 현재완료, 미래등으로 쓰세요.

- 예) I figure out people quickly. --> 난 눈치가 빠르다.. 정도의 뜻입니다.

- 예 2) I figured out how this machine works. --> 이 기계가 어떻게 작동하는지 알아내었다.

- 굳이 현재형으로 쓰신다면 know 를 쓰시면 됩니다.

- hope sure라는 표현 쓰지 않습니다.

- enjoy English보다는 중간에 동사를 써서 더 구체적으로 쓰실 수 있구요.

--> Actually I haven't figured out what I really want but I hope I'll enjoy learning English.

From now on, 2nd semester is 20days to go. I kind of need me time...
- 1st, 2nd 이렇게 쓰지 않습니다. First, Second로 쓰세요.

- 제발.. 이건 틀리지 마세요. 문장 처음은 무조건 대문자, 고유명사 대문자,

- 일기 쓰시고 검토 자세히 해주신담에 더이상 틀린게 없다고 생각되실때 올리는 연습을 해보세요.

2. 문맥의 흐름이 부자연 스럽습니다.

- 한 문장 안에서도 인과 결과가 뒤집어져 있다거나.. 연관 없는 두 문장이 같이 쓰여지는 경우도 있구요..

- 검토하실 때 반드시!! 문맥의 흐름이 자연스러운지 확인하시고 문장의 순서를 바꿔서 일정한 흐름을 유지시켜 주세요.

3. 시제

- 과거와 현재 시제를 확실히 구분해서 잘 써주세요.

포틀랜드에서 어학연수 중이신 27세 금란초님의 첫번째 일기 입니다~~ 제목은 제가 또 임의로 정해 버렸네요 ^^

I had headache yesterday, So I didn`t write diary. I met four friends of mine in downtown
that we went uptown because my Japaness friend was birthday. We had lunch to sushi
store and looked arround this area. Sushi was very delicious. If I`ve some time, I`ll really
go to there with someone.
I kind of made Korean foods for my home family. It is Bulgogi and dduckbucky and is
popular in my country. They were liked that I made food. I think it is very delicious,
So I`ll often make Korean food. And I`d like to make Korean food for someone.
Becaues it`s very delicious and someone is liked it.

- 그리고 because 쓰셔도 되지만 where를 사용해서 uptown을 꾸며 주는게 더 부드러울 듯 합니다.

- Looked around this area 보다 sushi가 맛있다는 표현이 먼저 와야 합니다.

- 많은 표현들이 있겠지만 "점심을 ~ 로 먹었다"는 --> eat/have [음식] for lunch. 이렇게 쓰면 좋을듯 합니다.

--> We had delicious sushi for lunch and afterwards, we looked around the area.

If I`ve some time, I`ll really go to there with someone.

- 가고 싶다 할때는.. 희망이기 때문에 would like to 씁니다.

- go 다음에 there가 올땐 to 빼구요. here, where 다 마찬가지 입니다.

- If i have some time, I would really like to go there with someone.

- 정확히 kind of 쓰신 이유를 잘 모르겠네요.. 홈 패밀리는 의미 전달이 되지 않습니다. 홈스테이 가족을 말씀하신 건가요?

- 두 문장을 합쳐 보겠습니다.

--> I made popular Korean food, Bulgogi and 떡볶이, for the family with whom I live as home-stay.

- family who I live with as home stay 라고 써야 하는데 with와 as 가 붙어서 whom 앞으로 with를 씁니다. 이런 표현을 익히기는 좀 어려운데요... 독해를 많이 하셔야 합니다. from which, with which, 등의 표현도 있구요.

They were liked that I made food.

- make food는 그냥 cook 이라고 쓰셔두 되구요.
- 금란초님이 요리 하는걸 좋아하는 거면..

--> They really like when I cook.

- 금란초님이 한 요리를 좋아하는 거면...

--> They really liked the food I prepared.

뉘앙스가 좀 다르죠? ^^ 요리 할때 make는 prepare로 대신 쓸 수도 있습니다. 같은 동사 계속 나오면 좀 진부해지는 감이 있거든요.

I think it is very delicious,

- 좋구요. 마침표 써주세요.

So I`ll often make Korean food. And I`d like to make Korean food for someone. Becaues it`s very delicious and someone is liked it.

- 좋아하다 하실땐 수동태가 아닌 능동태 쓰십니다.

- and 와 because는 가급적 문장 처음에 쓰지 않는게 좋습니다. 한문장으로 줄일 수 있을듯 합니다.

2. 시제

습관등은 무조건 현재 시제로 써주시고, 같은 문장안에 시제 다르면 작문하기가 까다로워지니 일단 같은 문장 안에서는 시제를 맞춰주시구요.

3. Will 의 사용법..

Will 은 ~가 일어날 것이다 라는 뉘앙스를 가지고 있습니다. 거의 반드시 행해지는 일에 사용이 많이 되죠. This car will break down. 하게 되면 이 차 꼭 망가 질꺼야... 라는 뉘앙스가 됩니다.

요리나 혹은 무엇을 하고 싶다의 표현은 would like to 가 더 괜찮습니다. will은 ~를 할거다 라는 엄청난 의지가 포함되거든요 ^^

그리고 공부법은 구체적으로 어떤걸 말씀하시는지.. 올려 주심 답변 드릴게요~

그럼 개강때까지 남은 시간 잘 보내세요~~ 전 학교 한주 후에 시작하는데 가기 싫어 죽겠습니다. ㅋㅋ

호주 Gold Coast 에서 Accounting 과정 하고 계시는 19세 민준님 입니다. 이분 여자친구 아직 없대요~~ ㅎㅎㅎ 빨리 생기시길 기원합니다. ㅋㅋ 여러분 모두 응원해 주세요~~ ^^;;

I had a dream that Tonya – she is my teacher – blamed me for behavior impolite. I didn’t
remember what she said, but this scene was vivid when she was in front of me with yelling at.
The moment I woke up. It was 10 o’ clock. It is a routine what I open the window and say hello to Ivan who sit on the bench in the back yard in house. As a sudden, he said Min Jun it is nearly
time to go school- normally he called church like that. Since I started the accounting course,
I haven’t gone to church so far, which is Australian one. Strangely, today also I wouldn’t like to
go that church, so i tried to go Korean church that Jang Bo is going to who is my guitar teacher.
After I called to him in order to confirm where the church is, and then I walked down there. At that time I didn’t notice that in Labrador there are two Korean churches. I was wandering 10 minutes;
finally I got into the church. In fact, I noticed that I went to a wrong one, after priests preach.
Even though the church was not big, it seems like well-organized. I met the youth club leader and then shortly introduced myself then I chat with him about how was Australian life, how could I
get to here, where do I live and, of course, Jesus. To be honest, I’m not serious about my
religion. Only do I believe that is god exists with us. I came Australia through agent involved in
studying abroad. The Christian boss conducted me to go church as long as I want to be
successful. I mean, I heard from her 90% Aussie are Christian, therefore as long as I want to
adapt to Australia lifestyle, I ought to go to church said her.

I think Australia church and Korean one has several different. First a major difference is
atmosphere; Aussie church is like a rock band compared to Korean. Second, preach time is
different. Korean normally does an hour, but Australian is two hours. It is same to have time
having some chips and coffee after prey. Finally, there are a variety of race and languages in
Australia church. From next week, I’m definitely going to church I have gone.

- image of her 가 주어가 �구요, be동사 대신에 remain을 썼습니다. be동사는 표현력이 무척 좁기 때문에 가급적이면 일반 동사를 쓰시는 연습을 많이 해보세요.

- still을 써서 vivid를 강조 했구요.

The moment I woke up. It was 10 o’ clock.

- 그냥 쉼표 사용해서 한 문장으로 만드시구요.

It is a routine what I open the window and say hello to Ivan who sit on the bench in the back yard in house.

- It is 를 써서 주어 + 동사 낭비하지 마시고..

- sit은 3인칭 단수를 수식하기 때문에 sits, back yard는 한 단어 입니다.

--> Opening my window to say hello to Ivan who sits on the bench in the backyard of (누구의?) house is one of my daily routines.

- daily를 써서 일과임을 강조 했구요, it 을 쓰지 않고 동명사 주어를 써봤습니다.

As a sudden, he said Min Jun it is nearly time to go school- normally he called church like that.

- As a sudden이 아니고 All of a sudden, suddenly 라고 말씀 드렸고.. 그리고 지금 상황이 매일 평화로운 일과 중에 "갑자기"라는 숙어가 들어 가버리면서 독자를 혼동으로 몰고 옵니다. All of a sudden이 있으면 좀 깜짝 놀랄 만한 일이 일어나야 하는데.. 뒤에 보니 그냥 인사를 했네요 -_-; 숙어 사용 하시려는 모습은 좋지만 때와 상황에 맞춰서 써주세요.

- 또한 매일 일어나는 routine에서 오늘 일어난 일로 전환해야 하기 때문에 이럴땐 this morning 써주시면 무난할 듯 합니다.

- 직접 말한 문장은 반드시 " " 안에 넣어줘야 합니다.

- 그리고 직접 말한 문장 사용시에는 say 나 tell 등의 평범한 동사 무조건 쓰지 마시고 상황을 더 잘 표현해 주는 동사 써보세요.

- 또 normally 가 들어갔기 때문에 동사 현재형을 쓰시구요.

--> This morning, he greeted me, "MJ, it's nearly time to go to school." - normally this refers to church.

Since I started the accounting course, I haven’t gone to church so far, which is Australian one.

- course는 take와 같이 쓰시라고 말씀 드렸고..

--> Since I started taking an accouting course here, 뒤는 생략할게요.

- 이 문장 역시 흐름에 안 맞습니다. 숙제 때문에 교회갈 시간이 없으신건지, 학교를 일요일에 가게되서 교회를 안가시는 건지.. 이런 부연 설명이 없다면 의사 전달이 되지 않습니다.

Strangely, today also I wouldn’t like to go that church, so i tried to go Korean church that Jang Bo is going to who is my guitar teacher.

- Strangely 라는 부사는 잘 쓰지 않고 특히 문장 처음으론 쓰지 않습니다. 혹은 strangely enough는 자주 쓰지만요.

- would 는 ~ 하고 싶어하다 혹은 평소에 ~를 하고 싶어하다 라는 뜻인데 과거를 회상하면서 쓰는 today와 같이 오니 문맥이 조금 이상합니다. Would는 거의 항상 습관이나 현재의 기분을 표현하기 때문에 과거로는 쓸수 없습니다.

--> Strangely enough, I didn't feel like going to that church today, so I decided to go to Korean church where my guitar instructor Jang Bo has invited me to come.

After I called to him in order to confirm where the church is, and then I walked down there.

- 역시 문단에 별로 필요가 없는 문장입니다.

At that time I didn’t notice that in Labrador there are two Korean churches.

- notice는 알아 채다 인데요.. 이럴땐 know라는 동사를 쓰는게 좋을듯 합니다.

--> At that time, I didn't know there are two Korean churches in Labrador.

- 굳이 notice를 써야 한다면.. 현재 완료를 쓰구요.

I was wandering 10 minutes; finally I got into the church. In fact, I noticed that I went to a wrong one, after priests preach.

- wandering 과 시간 사이에는 항상 "for"가 옵니다.

- 개신교 교회에 가신 것 같은데요.. priest 가 아니고 pastor 입니다. priest 는 신부 입니다.

Even though the church was not big, it seems like well-organized.

- 좋구요.

I met the youth club leader and then shortly introduced myself then I chat with him about how was Australian life, how could I get to here, where do I live and, of course, Jesus.

- 평서 문에서는 how + 주어 + 동사 입니다.

- 같은 문장에 that, when, then, 이런 접속사 등을 2개 이상 쓰면 어색해져 버립니다.

- chat, get,는 과거로 쓰시구 was는 현재로 쓰셔야 겠죠.

- Youth leader 처음 나오니까 "a" 씁니다.

--> I introduced myself to a youth club leader and chatted with him about how I came to Austrailia and the life from then on, where I live, and of course, Jesus.

To be honest, I’m not serious about my religion.

- 좋구요

Only do I believe that is god exists with us.

- Only를 앞에 써서 기교 있는 문장을 만드셨는데.. 살짝 어색하지만 틀리진 않은것 같습니다.

I came Australia through agent involved in studying abroad.

- come 장소 에서는 home등을 제외하고는 "to"를 붙여야 합니다.

- agent 앞에는 관사 "a" 필요.

- involved in ~ 표현은 좋지만.. 조금 더 정확히 구사 해보자면...

--> I came to Austrailia through an agent specializing in sending students abroad.

- 왜 이렇게 바꿨냐면.. life style과 종교는 약간 거리가 있습니다. 단지 교회를 가는것이 life style에 적응 할 수 있는게 약간 비약적이구요.. 그래서 문화라고 바꿔봤습니다. 또한 heard 와 said를 합쳐서 adivse를 써봤구요.

I think Australia church and Korean one has several different.

- different 는 형용사 입니다. 이 상황에선 differences를 쓰시고,

- 이렇게 써볼수도 있겠네요..

First a major difference is atmosphere; Aussie church is like a rock band compared to Korean.

- First 와 a 같이 쓰지 않습니다.

Second, preach time is different. Korean normally does an hour, but Australian is two hours.

** 주의사항

1. 직접 quote를 하실때는 만드시 " " 표기

- say와 tell 대신 다른 동사를 쓸것.

2. 역시 불필요한 문장 아직도 너무 많아. 고심한 흔적은 보이는데 필요없는 표현, 숙어, 문장 과감히 버려.

3. 동사에 대한 고민을 더 많이 해봐. be동사, go, do, get, 이런 동사는 회화할때 빼고는 쓰면 안좋아. be동사 같은 경우야 반드시 필요한 때가 많지만 그래도 피할 수 있음 피하려고 노력하구.

방명록에 보니까 뭐 하나 더 썼더라? 완전 버닝이야 ㅋㅋㅋ 민준아. 열심히 하는 모습 너무 보기 좋구나. 내가 너에 대해 많은 걸 알진 못하지만 혹시 너가 너무 열심히 하는 것 같아서.. 좀 불안한 것도 있어..

I'm going to tell you about me. I'm staying in Philippines for study.
I often watch some videos on You-tube nowadays . I love kevjumba, communitychannel.
I hope you also know that. I think if i will be watching the video. It can help my listening skills.

- 문장 처음은 무조건 대문자

- 이건 진짜 영작의 기본이고 틀려서도 안되는거야. 마침표를 왜 3번씩이나 찍냐.

- 그리고 이런거 계속 틀리면 일기 안 봐줄거니까 한번 쓰고 몇번 더 읽으면서 확실히 검토한담에 올리도록해라.

2. 문장 짧은건 두개 합치는 연습 하도록.

[TAFE Class] - 민준님 2008. 8. 9

호주의 Gold Coast에서 6개월 공부하신 19세 민준님의 일기입니다. 이분 엄청 정성 들여서 쓰시는 것 같습니다.. 저 수정 엄두도 못내서 이틀 미뤘었는데 이제서야 하게 되네요.. ^^

I started accounting course at Southport TAFE from three weeks ago.
In our class, there are a half of the classmates are Aussie and the rest are Asian. First one
week, I struggled to catch the class, because it was pretty hard and teacher’s speaking was
quick. I was afraid of dividing two groups, International group and local group, before I take the
class. Friend of mind who was taking other diploma course she told me the sad situation about
her class. I realized that it was oversea students fault don’t want to approach to local students
due to their English doesn’t enough to communicate with Aussie. I know some of them wouldn’t
try to talk to Australian, and then end up telling a lie that Aussie doesn’t like oversea students
who don’t speak English much. One of Aussie friends told me, why are you always trying not to
tell your Asian friends but ours? Even lunch time you have lunch with us, that’s why I like you...

Just as international students thought, local ones have thought exactly same things. There are
two South Korean in our classroom, including me. The other one is a girl who has never ever
used English even in general English course. I don’t understand why does she come here.

Anyway, in Tonya’s class, female teacher, we had time to get close each other, even though
already passed three weeks, we didn’t have chance to come together. First of all, Tonya matched English background person and non-English one as a pair of group, and then non-English ones tended to teach local ones how to speak ‘ Hi and How are you? ‘as their own language. As a
sudden, I didn’t remember calling – How are you? – Korean, that was embarrassing. I’m an
ambitious person and have high expectations, so I’ve studied English seriously so far,
for example, not used my first language at all in TAFE.

I got one story I came by a Korean store when went back to home, and asked to seller – Do you have rice cake?- in Korean except –rice cake-, because I forgotten many Korean words as well
as my pronunciation was getting became strange, it’s like, foreigner speaks Korean. Finally, the
seller said where are you from.. That was so funny.

- Friend 앞에는 a 써주시고,

- with가 about보다는 더 좋을 것 같습니다. situation with라는 표현을 써서 ~~ 한 상황이라고 씁니다.

- overseas 항상 복수로 쓰구요.

- students' fault --> 소유격이 되겠네요.. 그치만 위에도 썼듯이 일반 명사 소유격을 쓰지 않는 습관을 들이는게 중요합니다. 저는 be responsible을 사용해 바꿔볼게요.

- approach 다음에 to 안쓰고 바로 명사 입니다.

- doesn't enough --> be동사 + enough로 써야 합니다.

--> I realized that foreign students were responsible for not approaching the local students, perhaps due to the lack of confidence in their English speaking ability.

- be + responsible --> 책임이 있다.

- 제가 perhaps를 쓴 이유는.. 모든 잘못이 한쪽에 치우쳤다고 보기 어려울때 이런 단어를 넣어주면 더 부드러워 집니다.

- 또한 영어가 부족하다 보다는 말하기의 자신감이라고 표현 해보았습니다.

- In Tonya's class 하시게 되면.. 보통 외국에선 선생님 앞에 Ms 혹은 Dr. 이렇게 붙이기 때문에 이름만 쓰시면 친구 타냐의 수업에서는 .. 하고 뜻이 와전되어 버립니다.

- get close WITH each other 입니다. 하지만 close with는 친한 친구나 연인 사이에 많이 쓰구요.. 모르는 사람들은 get to know each other 라고 씁니다.

- even though already passed... --> 주어가 없는 상황입니다.

- 의미 전달 약간 안되는 편이라서 첫번째 부분만 수정합니다.

--> Anyway, in my class taught by Tonya, all of us had time to know each other.

I’m an ambitious person and have high expectations, so I’ve studied English seriously so far,
for example, not used my first language at all in TAFE.
--> I'm ambitious with high expectations so I've studied English very seriously and never used Korean at school.

--> 이런 문장은.. 좀 갑작스러운 면이 있습니다. 영작에서 가장 중요한 점 중에 하나는 하나의 문장이 다른 문장과 부드럽게 이어져야 하는데.. 왜 본인께서 ambitious한지.. 또는 ambitious한 점이 열심히 공부했다는 점과 잘 이어지지가 않습니다. 저는 이해를 하지만 외국 사람이 보면 ambitious와 영어를 열심히 한다는게 무슨 상관이지?? 할수 있는 가능성이 조금 있네요.

I got one story I came by a Korean store when went back to home, and asked to seller – Do you have rice cake?- in Korean except –rice cake-, because I forgotten many Korean words as well
as my pronunciation was getting became strange, it’s like, foreigner speaks Korean. Finally, the
seller said where are you from.. That was so funny.

- seller라는 표현 쓰지 않구요.. clerk, employee, someone을 씁니다.

- 음.. 이 문단 역시 잘 전달이 되지 않습니다.

*주의 사항

1. 주어와 동사가 과도하게 많이 쓰이거나 생략된 문장이 있습니다. who, that등을 잘 활용해보세요.

2. 숙어를 써보려는 시도 아주 좋은 것 같은데요.. to, with가 어색하게 쓰이는 경향이 있습니다.

3. 영작을 하실때.. 많은 이야기를 쓰고 싶으시겠지만.. 총체적으로 볼때 문장과 문장, 문단과 문단이 적절한 설명과 요점없이 난잡하다는 느낌을 받았습니다.

- 만약 native speaker가 봤다면 이게 뭐야 그럴수도 있습니다. 어떤 기준, 예를들어 시간, 등장인물, 등을 사용하여 일관성 있게 쓰는 연습을 해보세요.

- 민준님은 일기보다는.. 영화, 책, 정책, 인권 문제등 한 주제에 대해 심도 있게 영작을 하시는게 훨씬 더 도움이 될 것 같습니다. 일기는 처음 시작할 때 권해드리지만 민준님은 기본적으로 문장을 쓰실 수 있기 때문에 조금 더 자기 생각이 필요한 영작을 해보세요.

[Drinking Alcohol?? ^^'] - 마루코님 2008. 8. 10

제목을 어떤걸 부칠지 몰라 제 임의대로 Drinking Alcohol 해버렸네요 쿄쿄

Before am 5:00, my parents and I drank alcohol with '동태전' and '파전'.
Do you know what '동태전,파전' mean?
Basically, these are made of flour and eggs. But Both are different from ingredient.
One is fish, the other is vegetables.
OMG........I feel confused.
Because i can't explain in detail anymore.

Anyway, I want to talk to my diary's fan about drinking alcohol.
I guess I'm not a casual drinker.
Cause I always drink alcohol in the house with my family.
When I drinking alcohol with my parents, we watch the TV and have a conversation about
today's issue or gossip.
I feel very interesting and happy. Thanks my parents !!!
It is fortune that I can drink well. hahaha ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I can hold my liquor pretty well, but I still have my limits.
I definately have my limits when it comes to drinking alcohol.
Umm... For example, I can handle a bottle of soju.

Ha..........I have one serious problem.
I have to go on a diet !!!! But many foods and dishes tempt me.
If I eat many foods, I could not be losing my weight !! T_T

Today, 'Beijing Olympic' starts in China.
Many people concentrated on today's festival.
China prepares many perfomances for the world.
It received with wild enthusiasm.
I hope to finish this event peacefully. Cheer up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before am 5:00, my parents and I drank alcohol with '동태전' and '파전'.
- 5시까지 마셨다 라는 뜻이죠?
- am, pm 보다는 in the afternoon, evening 등으로 시간을 표기 하시고..
- drank 는 보통 술 마신다라는 뜻이 들어가기 때문에 alcohol 생략, 혹은 정확히 어떤 술인지 표기합니다. 예) Drank vodka,
- 미국의 음주문화는 우리와는 조금 달라서 안주와 같이 먹는다 라는 "with"를 쓰지 않습니다. 마실건 drink, 먹는건 eat를 씁니다.

예를 들어 I drank vodka with some fries. --> 이건 보드카에 감자튀김을 넣어서 마셔버렸다 가 되버리는 겁니다. OTL
그래서.. 이렇게 고칩니다.

--> Until 5 o'clock in the morning, my parents and I drank and ate 동태전,파전.
--> 또한.. 5시까지가 어제 인지, 한주 전인지 혹은 매일(?) 인지 표기 해주시면 더 부드러운 문장이 될듯하네요.

- CAUSE 절대 이렇게 쓰지 마세요. Because 와 Cause는 절대 같은 뜻이 아니고 이렇게 쓰셔도 안됩니다. 말할때는 "Cuz" 이런식으로 얘기하지만 이것도 그리 좋은 습관은 아닙니다.

--> Because I always drink (술이름) at home with my family.

When I drinking alcohol with my parents, we watch the TV and have a conversation about
today's issue or gossip.
- 동명사가 아닌 drink 사용.
- a conversation 이 아닌 conversation
- TV 앞에 관사 붙지 않습니다.

- I feel interesting - 나는 재밌는 사람이다. 라는 뜻이 되는데요.. 의도한 뜻인지는 잘 모르겠네요..
- 재미가 있다라는 표현은 I feel interested 입니다.
- It is fortunate 이라는 형용사릉 씁니다.

I can hold my liquor pretty well, but I still have my limits.
--> I have high tolerance for liquor 라는 표현도 씁니다.

I definately have my limits when it comes to drinking alcohol.
Umm... For example, I can handle a bottle of soju.
- When it comes to.. 정말 좋은 표현입니다!! 적절한 타이밍에 잘 쓰셨어용~
- Handle도 잘 쓰셨습니당~

Ha..........I have one serious problem.
I have to go on a diet !!!! But many foods and dishes tempt me.
- 이럴땐 수동태가 더 부드럽습니다.
--> I'm always tempted by many kinds of food and dishes.

If I eat many foods, I could not be losing my weight !! T_T
- eat 은 보통 음식을 먹기 때문에 굳이 food 안쓰셔두 되구요
--> If I eat a lot 정도로 바꾸는게 좋을것 같네요..

Today, 'Beijing Olympic' starts in China.
Many people concentrated on today's festival.
- 세계의 이목이 집중되다.. 라는 뜻인것 같은데요.. 역시 1문장으로 줄입니다.

--> The world is watching the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic taking place in China.

China prepares many perfomances for the world.
--> China has prepared 라는 현재 완료를 쓰구요..

It received with wild enthusiasm.
- receive + 명사, with는 뺍니다.

I hope to finish this event peacefully. Cheer up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I hope this event will be peaceful.

작문 실력 좋으신데요~~ 적절하게 숙어를 잘 사용하시는 것 같습니다.

일단 주의 하실 점 몇 가지..

1. 문장의 시작은 But, And 등으로 시작하지 않는다.
- 그냥 합쳐 주세요.

2. eat food 이나 drink alcohol,
- food이면 어떤 먹을거.. dinner, sandwich,
- drink 이면 water, milk, rum, 이런식으로..

한국에 계신 중학생 소녀 묘함님 입니다~~ 너무 잘쓰죠? ^^

I like to keep my room clean and little dark.
There is a white bed where I sleep.
and in frount of my bed there is a waedrobe.It' also white.
Next to my bed there is a Brown piano.
The Piano is old. My mom bought that when I was young.
umm. Nothing else.
ah. there is a big window .
I like to look out window very much.

- 중복 되는 부분이 조금 있기 때문에 한 문장으로 줄여 보도록 하겠습니다.
- 일단 침대에서 자는건 당연한 사실이기 깨문에 where I sleep은 굳이 쓰실필요 없습니다. 같은 예로 I bought some milk to drink.. 등이 있겠죠. where to sleep 을 빼고 침대 위치를 설명 해 주실 수 있겠죵.. 예를 들어 벽 옆에 있는.. 이라고 하면
--> There is a white bed along the wall and in front of it, I have my wardrobe, also in white.

- brown 은 소문자로.. 밑에 old가 있는데요

- 피아노 역시 소문자. 방에 침대와 옷장, 피아노 밖에 없으세요? 어머님께서 너무 신경 안써주시네요~~~ ^^ ㅎㅎㅎ

- 이 두 문장 역시 합칠 수 있는데요..
--> There is a big window through which I like to look out to.

짧은 문장 두개 정도를 하나로 묶어주는 연습을 많이 해보세요~~

캐나다 벤쿠버에 사시는 강천님의 일기 입니다~~

Before I came here , I was a heavy smoker.

i smoked cigars a pack a day since i was 20.

But now I have decided to stop smoking.

Actully This is the third time since I have resolved to stop smoking.

The most important reason to try to stop smoking is that cigaretts are so expensive that i can't buy cigars.

It's been for a week since I last smoked cigars.

Can i stop smoking until I die ?

- I 대문자로 쓰시고,
- 일반 적인 담배는 cigar 가 아닌 cigarette이라고 표현합니다.
- ~하곤 했었다 라는 used to 라는 표현을 써서
--> I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day since I was 20.

- 좋습니다~ quit 이라는 동사 사용하셔도 되구요.

- resolve는 ~~를 해결하다 라는 뜻이 있는데 "금연을 해결하다" 라는 표현을 쓰지 않고 시도하다를 많이 쓰게 됩니다.

- 전체적으로 무난한 문장인데요... to와 that이 반복되면서 어감이 이상해지는 감이 있습니다. 또 대명사를 사용하여 같은 명사의 반복 사용을 피하실 수 있구요..
--> The most important reason to stop smoking is that cigarettes are so expensive, making it difficult to buy them.

It's been for a week since I last smoked cigars.
- 제가 문법을 많이 공부하지 않고 회화나 독해등을 통해 영어를 배웠기 때문에.. 문법책을 찾아보았습니다. ^^
- study, love, want등 과 같은 non-continous verb 사용시에는 시간 앞에 for가 오는게 맞긴 하나.. 예를들어 I've stopped smoking for a week등과 같은...
- 그렇지만 It's been 처럼 ~~되었다 라고 쓰실땐 it이 시간을 수식하기 때문에 for가 들어가지 않습니다. It's been a week since I last smoked cigarettes. 이렇게요..
- 굳이 for을 쓰고 싶으시다면 It's been for a week that I've stopped smoking을 쓰셔서 since 대신에 that을 넣으시면 될듯합니다. 하지만 It's been a week... 라고 쓰시는게 훨씬 부드럽네요.
- 혹시 제 설명이 틀렸다면 지적해 주시는 분 계시면 감사하겠습니다.

Can i stop smoking until I die ?
- 이 문장을 해석하자면.. 내가 죽을때 까지 담배를 끊을 수 있을까 라서 약간 어색하구요... ^^;;
- 원하시는 뜻이 내가 죽기 전에 담배를 끊을 수 있을까 라는 표현은
--> Can I stop smoking before I die? 라고 쓰시는게 맞습니다.

오늘 쓰신 내용은 전반적으로 부드러운 편이구요. 뜻을 이해하는데는 전혀 문제점이 없었습니다. 작문은 일단 자기 의사를 남에게 전달하는 것이 목적이기 때문에 잘 쓰셨다고 생각되고 몇가지 틀린점은 많은 연습을 하시다 보면 자연스레 고쳐 질 것 같습니다. 또 독해 연습을 많이 하시면 작문에도 많은 도움 될겁니다.

[Sad Story] - 강천님 2008. 7. 26

캐나다 벤쿠버에 사시는 강천님의 일기 입니다~~ ^^

Wowwwwwwww!!!!
11:00 am I went to school to study english and was thinking it's a nice day to play sports.
After school my freind said to me "Let's go to the stanley park and board a rollerblade".
I said "that sounds definately good". So we went to go to the stanley park and were looking for a rent service centre.
It's not easy to rent a blade, becuase we don't have skills to express what i want to say.
But finally we did. haha
We boarded the blade, looking other people in the stanley park.
Then......................I saw a women and said to friend "I've never seen a beautiful women like that and really really want to hook up with her.
But My friend said "Are u kidding me ? She is way out of your league"
I was so sad. yeah I know I am just ugly korean.....
A hour and 30min later we finished boarding a blade and went back at each home. Wowwwwwwww!!!!
11:00 am I went to school to study english and was thinking it's a nice day to play sports.
- I went to school at 11 in the morning to study English 로 하시는게 더 좋을듯 하네요.
- 문장에서는 보통 AM 이나 PM 을 쓰지 않고 in the morning, afternoon, evening 등으로 시간을 표현합니다.
- 또한 정오나 자정은 noon이나 mid-night을 많이 쓰구요.

After school my freind said to me "Let's go to the stanley park and board a rollerblade".
- After school, my friend suggested, "Let's go rollerblading at Stanley Park"
- friend 스펠링 주의해주시고,
- say 와 tell 동사 보다는 상황을 더 잘 설명해 주는 동사를 찾아서 써보세요. 예를들어 강천님 일기에서 친구가 "~~ 해보자" 라는 말을 했기 때문에 suggest 같은 동사를 쓰면 더 다채로운 표현을 사용할 수 있습니다.
- board a rollerblade라는 표현은 쓰지 않구요.. 이럴땐 go + 동명사를 씁니다. go rollerblading.
- 또한 Stanley Park라는 고유명사 앞에는 the를 붙이지 않는게 원칙입니다. 예외는 river, ocean, bridge, region, or building 등등의 고유명사는 the를 붙입니다. 문법을 설명하기엔 너무 많이 써야해서 이쯤에서 줄이지만 궁금하시면 문법책이나 인터넷 검색을 사용하여 찾아보시길 바랍니다.

I said "that sounds definately good"
- I agreed, "that definately sounds good" definately를 앞에 써주시고..
- say 대신 강천님도 동의를 하셨기 때문에 agree 라는 표현을 쓰실 수 있구요,

So we went to go to the stanley park and were looking for a rent service centre
- So we went to Stanley Park and looked for rollerblade rentals.
- went to go 는 동사가 중복되기 때문에 went를 한 번 쓰구요..

It's not easy to rent a blade, becuase we don't have skills to express what i want to say.
But finally we did. haha
- It's not easy to rent rollerblades because we sometimes have troubles expressing ourselves.
- Rollderblade 같은 경우에는 shoes, gloves와 같이 항상 두짝이기 때문에 복수로 표현합니다.
- because 앞에는 보통 쉼표가 들어가지 않구요..
- have trouble + 동명사 를 사용하면 ~~를 잘 못한다, ~~가 어�다 등으로 유용하게 쓸 수 있습니다. 또 have troulbe with + 명사 를 사용해서 같은 표현을 쓰실 수 있구요.

We boarded the blade, looking other people in the stanley park.
- While we were rollerblading, we started watching other pople in the park.
- while 이라는 표현을 쓰면 ~~ 하면서라고 자연스럽게 되구요,
- 사람을 구경하다는 watch로 씁니다. look at 은 무언가를 관찰한다는 느낌이 더 강하구요.
- Stanley Park는 몇번 사용했기 때문에 the park라고 씁니다.

Then......................I saw a women and said to friend "I've never seen a beautiful women like that and really really want to hook up with her.
- woman --> 한명을 보셨으니 단수로,
- said to him/her -->친구 성별에 따라
- I've never seen such a beautiful woman ..
- never + such 로 표현합니다.

But My friend said "Are u kidding me ? She is way out of your league"

I was so sad. yeah I know I am just ugly korean.....
- ugly하시지 않을 것 같습니다!!

A hour and 30min later we finished boarding a blade and went back at each home.
- An hour and a half later, we finished rollerblading and went back home.
- go, come home 등을 쓰실때 home 앞에는 to나 at등의 관사를 쓰지 않습니다.

한달 밖에 안되셨는데 문장 실력이 좋으신 것 같아요~ 꾸준하게 연습하셔서 좋은 결과 있길 바랄게요~

블로그 운영 원칙 및 일기 작성 요령

얼마전 다음 세계앤에서 이런 저런 글을 올리다가 본격적으로 블로그를 만들어 보고자 해서 급조 했습니다. ^^

이 블로그는 비 상업인 목적을 지니고 여러분에게 조금이라도 더 유용한 정보를 드리고 싶은 개인적인 마음에 만들게 되었는데요..

현재 방명록에 일기를 쓰시면 제가 고쳐 드리고 있습니다. 하지만 아래 사항에 준수해서 남겨주시면 감사드리겠습니다.

1. 반드시 "공개" 설정

- 물론 일기의 내용이 개인적인 부분이 있겠지만 여러 사람들께서 보면서 같이 공부 할 수 있는 분위기를 만들고자 함 입니다.

2. 다음과 같은 정보와 함께 써주세요.

- 일기 제목, 닉 네임, 거주위치(예. 미국, 한국), 나이

3. 일기는 반드시 5번 이상 검토 하고 올려주세요.

*검토사항

- 스펠링

- 소문자, 대문자, 마침표, 쉼표 사용

- 전체적인 흐름을 다시 한번 보고 문장의 연결이 부드러운지 확인.

- 저도 학교에서 에세이나 페이퍼 제출 전에 보고 또 보고 또 확인 합니다. 그래도 틀리는 부분이 계속 나오거든요.. 여러분도 여러번 검토하는 습관을 들여 보시는게 좋을 것 같습니다~ ^^

4. 여러분이 방명록에 써주신 일기는 제가 검토후 "여러분의 일기장" 폴더로 옮기려고 합니다. 음.. 다른 사람의 일기도 잘 읽어주시고 따듯한 칭찬이나 건전한 충고를 남길수 있는 댓글 문화가 생겼으면 좋겠습니다. 각박한 세상인데 이곳 만큼은 사랑이 가득한 쉼터가 되었으면 합니다. 아 또 감성적으로 되버렸네요 ㅋㄷㅋㄷ

위에도 언급했듯이 비상업적으로 블로그를 운영하고 있습니다. 한달에 한번씩 광고 수익 산출을 하게 되는데요 이번 달이 첨이라 추후에 내역 발표 하려고 합니다. 사실 얼마 되진 않습니다만.. ^^;; 수익은 100% 결손가정 자녀 교육을 위해 쓸 예정이고 재단은 아직 찾지 못하였습니다. 추가로 내용 공지 하겠습니다.
