&lt;P&gt;파워워킹은 다른 운동에 비해 간단한 운동법, 덜한 신체부담, 달리기와 비슷한 운동 효과를 자랑한다. 실내, 실외 상관없이 사시사철, 그것도 혼자 할 수 있는 운동이란 점도 바쁜 일상을 살아가는 현대인에게 꽤나 어울리는 운동이다. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;평소보다 빠르게 걷는 파워워킹은 위에서 간단히 언급한 장점이 있지만 그 효과를 누리기 위해선 정확한 자세를 유지하는 것이 필요하다. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;1. 고개를 들고, 등을 펴고, 몸을 일직선으로 만들자&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;BR&gt;등을 조인 상태를 유지한다. 몸 전체를 적당히 긴장하면서도 곧은 자세를 유지하는 것이 중요하다. 등을 펴고 상체는 바르게, 복부를 긴장시켜 힘을 주고, 턱을 끌어당긴 자세로 유지하자.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;등이 구부러지거나 너무 펴져도 좋지 않다. 똑바른 자세를 유지하자. 몸이 바르게 선다는 것은 걷는 방향-가슴-등이 일치한다는 뜻이다. 걸으면서 팔을 좌우로 휘저어 몸이 뒤틀리는 것도 잘못된 자세다.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;2. 보폭을 넓혀라(적당히)&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;BR&gt;자신의 키에서 70~100cm를 뺀 수치가 적정 보폭이다. 과도하게 넓게 보폭을 취하면 하체의 관절에 가해지는 부담이 늘어난다. 보폭을 크게 할수록 무릎, 발목은 힘들어한다.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;3. 팔다리에 중량을 더해라&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;BR&gt;팔과 다리에 모래주머니를 차거나 가벼운 아령을 들고 운동을 하면 평소보다 더 나은 운동효과를 얻을 수 있다. 근력강화에 도움이 되는 것은 물론 산소섭취량에서도 차이가 난다. 신체가 에너지를 더 소모하는 것은 말할 필요도 없다. 단, 자기가 생각하는 것보다 약간 더 가벼운 것으로 골라야 한다. 걷고 흔드는 과정에서 아령, 모래주머니의 무게에 원심력이 더해져 자기의 몸이 딸려갈 수도 있기 때문이다. &lt;/P&gt;
