The ideas and desires of architects and planners are very important to Rieder – the company does not want to impose limits on creative ability, but rather to turn ideas into reality. “We want to create new standards and deliberately break rules”, said Wolfgang Rieder, owner of the Rieder Group, about his approach to creative challenges. The constant development of fibreC and the knowledge transfer between designers and the company helps Rieder to not only position fibreC glassfibre as a classic facade, but also to emphasise the design character of the material.
Planners such as Boris Egli from L3P Architekten, who designed the trade fair stand for Gasser Fassadentechnik, contribute their creativity to the company’s own development department at Rieder. In return Rieder enables the creation of new concepts and develops solutions in dialogue with designers and architects.
In this way, the flat fibreC panels for the Swissbau were transformed into “sculptural fibreC”. The Swiss architects L3P developed the concept for the trade fair stand. Working on the principle that “a journey makes us appreciate space” the stand was closed from the outside which produced a mysterious atmosphere and created curiosity and excitement for the passers-by. “We decided to cover the outer shell for the pavilion with fibreC glassfibre concrete panels, in order to showcase the characteristics of the material and the exciting design possibilities”, said Boris Egli about his concept for the stand. During one of the architect’s visits to the Rieder development department the decision was made to furnish the fibreC panels in liquid black with reliefs and perforations. The aim was that “sculptural fibreC” would take the visitors on a journey through various types of facade. A further special feature of the panels was that the reverse side of the panels was shown. The architect’s concept lived up to its promise. The pavilion caused great curiosity among the trade fair visitors.
